Island Books will be on hand to sell books at this event sponsored by the PNW Anti Defamation League and the Asian Jewish Initiative.  We love Josh Tuininga's beautiful graphic novel depicting his grandfather's support of Seattle's Japanese community during their forced removal and incarceration in the 1940's.   This is a ticketed event at Northwood Elementary.  See details below. 

Join the Asian Jewish Initiative for an Author Talk on Mercer Island on Sunday May 5

Please join the Asian Jewish Initiative on Sunday, May 5 at 1:00PM PT at Northwood Elementary on Mercer Island as we celebrate Jewish American Heritage Month and Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Months. The program will feature a moderated conversation with Josh Tuininga, author of We Are Not Strangers , whose recently released graphic novel explores his family’s story of allyship between Seattle’s Sephardic and Japanese communities during World War II incarceration. Following the intergenerational program, appropriate for middle schoolers and up, guests will partake in a coffee and dessert reception and book signing, with books sold by Island Books. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.
