Brain Candy is a memoir based on Deirdre's experiences fighting an aggressive brain tumor, while caring for her mother with advanced Alzheimer's, raising her teenage daughter, and helping her husband chase a new dream - opening a barbecue restaurant. Her greatest defense is her sense of humor in this tender memoir chronicling life struggles that are often tragic, but can still be very funny. Grab a tissue and take a ride as one batty broad battles her way through the tragicomic trials of her most perilous adventure yet - brain cancer.
Writing is about the only thing Deirdre can do. She’s done it a lot for the past twenty years — for newspapers (remember those?), magazines, the Information Super Highway and movies that were never made. That is not quite fair. She directed a doc on burlesque, A Wink and a Smile. That forever ruined her appreciation for live theater — if no clothes come off, what’s the point?Seattle.
