Join us the first Saturday of August for PJ Story Time! This month, we welcome co-authors Shaarika Kaul and Aubrey Unemori as they read from their new release, Mindful Mansi. Bring your kids, PJ-clad, for a fantastic story about a girl learning about her feelings and herself.
Mansi has feelings, and sometimes she doesn’t know exactly what to do with them.
When something goes south, her mind races to react. Maybe she’ll start to huff and puff and pout with rage. But is that always the best action to take? In Mindful Mansi we experience daily life through six-year-old Mansi’s eyes. With Mansi at our side, we can all learn to act instead of react--to pause, breathe, and choose to be the best version of ourselves--even in the toughest of situations.
Shaarika is a Senior at the University of Washington studying Informatics and Communication. She is passionate about the arts- she is a musician and loves to write. Mindful Mansi is a dream-come-true as her first published book. Shaarika has practiced meditation her whole life, and is a vocal advocate for mental health and self-care. Shaarika will be working as a Business Technology Analyst at Deloitte upon her graduation in Spring 2019. Aubrey is a Junior at the University of Washington studying English with Writing Emphasis. She is President of both the Graphic Novel Society and Write Away at UW creative writing club, as well as the Outreach Coordinator of Bricolage Literary and Visual Arts Journal's Issue 37 Staff. She is passionate about writing and diversity in media, and hopes to go into the publishing industry after graduation to change the face of mainstream media.
