Join us on Sunday, November 8th at 10:30am for our kick off event with the Microsoft Alumni Network - Sunday Morning with Akhtar Badshah in conversation with Trish Millines Dziko and Andrea Taylor.  They will be discussing his forthcoming book, Purpose Mindset: How Microsoft Inspires Employee and Alumni to Change the WorldThe Purpose Mindset tells the inside story behind how Microsoft built its culture of giving, including powerful stories from Microsoft alumni who were in the room when these decisions were made or who went on to make powerful change in the world, emboldened by their time at Microsoft.

Ahktar Badshah  as head of Microsoft’s philanthropy program from 2004-2014. He is himself a prime example of the kind of engaged alumni that will be featured in this book, currently serving as the Chair of the Board of Global Washington, and also serving on the boards of the Microsoft Alumni Network and The Indus Entrepreneurs Seattle chapter. He is an internationally recognized development and philanthropy expert.




Trish Millines Dziko cofounded Technology Access Foundation (TAF) in 1996 after spending 17 years in the tech industry. Through Trish’s leadership, TAF transitioned from out of school programs to become a statewide leader in public education, operating TAF Academy (a grade 6-12 award-winning public school co-managed with the Federal Way Public School District), partnering with public schools to promote the highest level of student learning, and increasing the number of teachers of color through the Martinez Fellowship. Trish is a committed, proactive leader serving on boards of organizations that focus on children and education.


Andrea Taylor is the current Senior Diversity Office at Boston University and former president and CEO of the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, part of the Birmingham Civil Rights National Monument (2015 - 2020). She spent 8 years at Microsoft as the former Director, Citizenship & Public Affairs and is a current trustee of The HistoryMakers, and an honorary trustee of New York Public Radio, following 22 years as an active board member.
