We want you to get outside this summer, so we're helping make that happen by inviting one of our favorite itinerant writers to lead us on a journey through our own backyard. Join us on Thursday, July 19th as David Williams takes us on a guided tour of our Mercer Island environs!
David is the author of Seattle Walks, one of our bestselling titles in any genre. More than a guidebook, it's a study of the history, geology, and beauty, both architectural and natural, of our local metropolis. We love the way he points out details that most would never notice and entertainingly explains their significance--we couldn't be more pleased to have him here to teach us how to turn an observant eye on our surroundings, however strange or familiar they may be. Informative and fun, this will be an ideal event, whether you're a longtime resident or a recent visitor.
We'll be meeting here at the store for some preliminary remarks and then embarking on a ramble 30 minutes in duration, give or take. This should be a fairly easy stroll well within the capabilities of most walkers, from young to old. We'll loop back to Island Books and toast to our successful return with a cold beverage, on us. And all the ticketed participants will take home a copy of Seattle Walks! Tickets for this event are $25 and space is limited, so sign up early! Discounted kid tickets are available for young folks accompanied by an adult--no book is included, but they're a mere $10 each.
